Practical: Preparing The Skin

Equipment:

               Cleanser
               Toner
               Moisturiser
               Cotton pads
               Cotton buds

Before preparing the skin:

Assess skin type of client and examine for skin infections or diseases. Choose products suitable for skin. (e.g. sensitive, oily, dry)
Ask client if they are on any medication or have any allergies.
Wash hands thoroughly with warm water and soap.

To prepare skin:

Using cleanser on cotton pads, use an upward motion to remove makeup from the skin.
Using the cleanser, remove eye makeup gently with pads and use buds to remove excess makeup close to the eyes. If client is wearing waterproof mascara, ask them to remove it themselves.
After the face is cleansed, using toner on cotton pads, remove any remaining makeup in an upward mothion. This helps to remove the remainling nonvisible makeup.
Moisturise the skin with a small amount of moisturiser (about a pea size) and massage into face.
